Sutton Hoo CHICKENS

Origin: Suffolk countryside

The uniqueness of Sutton Hoo chicken shines through, and when you taste it, you can genuinely discern the difference. Sutton Hoo have a passion for welfare, tradition and exceptional flavour that aligns seamlessly with our values at Wyndhams. These chickens are truly free range and produce a dense succulent meat, delicious juices and crispy skin. Giblets included. There is no routine use of antibiotics in the diet and are 100% hormone free.

The story of Sutton Hoo Chicken traces back to 1994 when Charles & Belinda Nash embarked on a mission to rear genuinely free-range chickens in the Suffolk countryside. Reared over 40 acres of Suffolk Meadows, the company has remained a family run business over the last 30 years. Their focus on the farm is slowing down the whole growing process. Reducing stress, providing a natural environment where the chickens can engage in normal behaviours and upholding the highest welfare standards. Sutton Hoo's choice of a traditional breed, slower growing and nurtured for an average of 10 weeks, sets it apart. This deliberate pace, combined with ample exercise and a natural, varied diet, imbues the meat with a succulent flavour and a perfect texture that captures the essence of authentic chicken. The traditional free-range farming methods employed pay homage to a time when chickens roamed freely, translating into an unparalleled taste experience. This extra time results in a bird with real flavour often described by the phrase “as chicken used to taste”.

“It's because the chickens have more exercise, are grown for longer and have a natural, varied diet that they taste so much better.”
